The Mystery of Edgar Allan Poe
“And my soul from out that shadow that lies floating on the floor. Shall be lifted – nevermore!”
Baltimore 1849 a distressed young woman enters a police station in the midst of a violently contested election. Her husband has vanished – the famous writer Edgar Allan Poe. The inspector asks about the missing man – and the author’s wife explains who he is and his state of mind – in doing so gradually her description merges with the telling of a tale that represents his work – THE FALL OF THE HOUSE OF USHER – the police are enthralled – and set out to find the missing man.
